Nikko Edomura is a theme park where guests can experience what it was like in the Edo period (1603-1868) in the present day. The vast grounds are made to look like an authentic townscape, with features like olden highways, inns, shopping streets, ninja villages, and samurai residences. In the dress-up area, guests can change clothes and transform themselves into Edo residents like ninjas, samurai, and feudal lords. Furthermore, there are so many hands-on experiences available to enjoy! You can learn about the culture of the Edo period first-hand through the various experiences, like the Edo work experience (children only), samurai training experience, and senbei (rice cracker) cooking experience. In addition, there are theatrical performances scheduled as well, so you can sit back and enjoy a variety of shows, like ninja attractions, human-interest plays, and traditional performing arts.
The dining hall also is a great place to enjoy Japanese food from the Edo period.

  • I was so excited when I first entered Edo Wonderland! It really felt like stepping back into the Edo period. Everyone was happy to try on costumes, and the kids wanted to dress up as ninjas. The streets and shops have such a historic vibe. We learned a lot about Edo culture and had a really fun and meaningful afternoon here.

  • The tickets are too expensive, and the performances were dull and boring.

The whole park perfectly recreates life in the Edo period. Even the small details are done with great care. The performers' costumes and actions in the theater show how much effort they put in.

  • The whole place is filled with Edo period vibes. You can even dress up as a character from a period drama and walk around the park without feeling out of place. It really feels like you're the main character in a time-travel show!

  • This place is full of fun and educational activities. It's a great spot for kids to learn about different aspects of Japanese culture. Definitely worth a visit.
