Yokohama Municipal Kanazawa Zoo

A Zoo with Herbivores on Display, Located in a Luscious Green Park

Last update :

Located in the lush greenery of Kanazawa Nature Park, Kanazawa Zoo is home to some of the world’s rarest herbivorous animals. The animals’ displays are organized according to their habitat, divided into 4 continents: Americas, Eurasia, Oceania, and Africa. There are plenty of popular animals to see, including koalas, giraffes, and elephants, but there are no carnivorous animals like lions, and only herbivorous animals are raised here.
The “Honobono Hiroba” plaza, where guests can interact with ponies, goats, sheep, and more, and the summertime rhinoceros beetle corner are also popular areas to visit.
The park is overflowing with nature, and visitors can enjoy seasonal flowers as they bloom, including cherry blossoms, hydrangeas, cosmos, and plum blossoms.
If you’re feeling hungry, there’s also the “Nonohana Café,” where you can enjoy dishes made with local ingredients, and “Waku Waku Kitchen,” which sells food to go. (Waku Waku Kitchen is open only on weekends and holidays)
There is also a gift shop where you can pick up souvenirs, including general items and sweets.
