Kobe Nunobiki Herb Gardens is the largest herb garden facility in Japan, where you can see 75,000 herbs of around 200 different species, growing at an altitude of about 400 meters. It is filled with fresh scents and colors all year round. With 12 gardens of roses, lavender, seasonal flowers, and more, the vast park has plenty of places you can take beautiful pictures.
There is also a restaurant, cafe, and terrace with a full menu of seasonal herbs and edible flowers. Many of them are grown in the gardens. “The Veranda Kobe" has original menus such as the original parfait-like sweet Savarin and the famous Nunobiki Herb Burger, on top of a selection of classic herb tea.
At the Fragrance Museum, visitors can learn about the history of fragrances and experience the scent of different natural essential oils. Herb guide tours are available every day, and you can participate for free without a reservation.
If you are tired from walking around the gardens, you can lay down on the hammocks or relax your feet in the footbaths set up throughout the park.
Access to Kobe Nunobiki Herb Garden is about 10 minutes by ropeway. On the gondola, you can overlook the city of Kobe and the ocean in all directions.
