“Nakasendo” is one of the five highways that were constructed during the Edo period to connect Kyoto and Edo. Magome Inn is the 43rd post town on the Nakasendo. It is an inn town along a slope paved with stone pavement, and you can feel the atmosphere of the Edo period. Both sides of the road are lined with stores selling freshly baked gohei-mochi (rice cakes), oyaki (wheat cakes), etc., where you can enjoy eating and strolling.

It is also known as a place associated with Toson Shimazaki, and the Toson Memorial Museum, located on the site of his birthplace, exhibits manuscripts of his works such as "Before Dawn" and "Gate of the East”.

There are also many photo spots such as the waterwheel powered by water from the canal that runs through Magome Inn, the stone-paved slope, and the viewing platform from which you can see Mt. Ena. It is a good idea to take pictures and think about the romanticism of history.
Various events are held throughout the year, including the "Ice and Snow Lantern Festival" and the "Magome Shukuba Festival”.
