Mt. Taikan is located at an altitude of 1,015 meters on the border between Hakone and Yugawara. The Mt. Taikan Observatory, located at the end of the “Anest Iwata Turnpike Hakone”, a driving course connecting Odawara and Mt. Taikan, is a perfect viewpoint. You can see the beautiful Mt. Fuji rising above Lake Ashinoko, central crater hills such as Mt. Komagatake, outer rim mountains such as Mt. Kintoki, the Southern Alps, Miura Peninsula, Boso Peninsula, and Oshima Island in the distance; because of these 360° views, it’s a popular destination for a drive or regular touring.

Right beside the observatory, there is the “Anest Iwata Sky Lounge” where you can take a rest, and the first floor is a food court where you can grab some light meals such as curry, hot dogs, and ramen.
The coffee shop on the second floor is available for 250 yen for adults and 100 yen for elementary school students, including one free drink. A variety of drinks are available, including freshly ground coffee made with natural Hakone water, and all-you-can-drink drinks are available for an additional 200 yen. You can also get sweets such as cakes starting from 350 yen. Cookies from the Fujiya Hotel in Hakone are also available for purchase, so be sure to take some as souvenirs.

Next to the Sky Lounge, there is a "Hakone no Buranko" that you can ride and take pictures of. The swing is made of Odawara cypress and wood from along the Anest Iwata Turnpike Hakone, so why not take a memorable picture with the magnificent scenery in the background?
