Shosenkyo is located in the northern part of Kofu City, Yamanashi Prefecture, and is called "the most beautiful gorge in Japan".
You can see granite cliffs, strange rocks and stones carved out over a long period of time, and clear and abundant water flowing.
There is a well-maintained promenade along the gorge, making it easy to enjoy the beautiful seasonal beauty of the gorge. "Kakuenpo", the main peak of Shosenkyo, and "Sengataki Waterfall" with a drop of 30 meters are popular spots.
There are also many other sights to see, such as the thrillingly unstable "Ishimon (Stone gate)" and “Nagatoro Bridge”, the existing oldest concrete arch road bridge in Yamanashi Prefecture.
Furthermore, if you take the Shosenkyo Ropeway to the observatory, you can enjoy a spectacular panoramic view of Mt.Fuji, Kitadake and Ainodake mountains.
