Koka is surrounded by nature at the foot of Suzuka Mountains. The quiet village used to be a busy post station along Tokaido Highway, also known as the birthplace of the art of Ninja. Beyond the rolling hills, neighboring Iga is also a historical Ninja’s home town. Both are Japan treasures, registered as “Shinobi-no Sato Iga and Koka.” Small castles, mansions , training places and other cultural properties stand in the area.

One of them is a group of Ninja Museums, “Koka Ninja Village,” which is a theme park of Koka Ninja. On the vast premises between mountains, various facilities stand to offer learning and play experiences to allow you to feel like a ninja.

One of the village’s main facilities is Koka Ninjutsu Museum, which was opened in 1983 to explore the facts and history of Koka Ninja. It was made with an ancient thatched house believed to belong to Koka Ninjas. The museum exhibits a variety of info about ninja, including a letter sent by the last shogun in the Muromachi Period, Yoshiaki Ashikaga asking a Koka worrier for help, and one of the three famous ninja art secret books, Mansen Shukai. Based on these books, studies have been done on Koka ninja arts and the relationship between war lords and Koka Ninja.

The historical home of the Fujibayashi Family, the descendants of an actual Koka Ninja, was broken down, transferred, and rebuilt as a Karakuri Yashiki (trick house) here. You can see the flipping wall, hidden stairs, escape hole beneath an open hearth, etc. You can experience them in the real Ninja house, not just a replica.
