Gohei-mochi by Furuya
Sealed Gohei-mochi with special sweet and spicy walnut sauce.
NHK's television series "Half, Blue” made Gohei-mochi from Ena a well- known specialty food. Gohei-mochi by Furuya is a popular product and a great way to enjoy this local delicacy, long loved in the Higashi-Minoh area of Gifu Prefecture.
Furuya Sangyo has been producing gohei-mochi in Ena City, since its establishment in 1970, serving up this local delicacy while keeping to their policy of "the taste and aroma of tradition.”
The mochi part is made from 100% Gifu-grown rice, and the additive-free special walnut sauce is a blend of walnuts, sesame, and peanuts, mixed with soy sauce. They are sealed and packed one or three in each package. They are good not only for snacks or a light meal, but also come in handy at outdoor barbeques since they can be kept at room temperature.
They are simple to cook up; bake the rice cake part in a toaster or electric pan until softened and browned, apply the special walnut sauce on the whole surface and bake again. Baking them just enough to become a little charred on the edges is the best way to enjoy their savory and unique flavor. You can also use a microwave oven for faster cooking.
