This is a museum-type facility where visitors can observe a real Maglev traveling at speeds of 500 km/h. On days when test runs are conducted, you can see the Maglev train in action from each floor of the facility. The outdoor terrace on the second floor is a popular photo spot, because you can actually feel the gust of wind when the train goes by at 500 km/h instead of watching from behind the glass.

There are various displays, including the actual test train that set the world record for the fastest speed in 2003, and footage that showcases the powerful Maglev system from a large screen. Visitors can enjoy learning about the superconducting Maglev system by taking a magnetic levitation ride on the mini-Maglev train or trying out the other experimental equipment at the facility.

The facility also has a gift shop, where you can purchase original Maglev goods and other popular Yamanashi souvenirs. The original Maglev goods are exclusive to the facility, so be sure to get some when you visit.

This place lets you learn all about the Maglev train that goes over 500 km/h!
I took my kid and we explored at a relaxed pace—it took us about two hours to see everything.
There are scheduled demonstrations, ride experiences, and a small play area inside, so the kids were totally entertained the whole time and never got bored.
If you’re lucky, you might even catch the real Maglev train zooming by inside the facility. Pretty cool!

Adult tickets are JPY 420, kids pay half. There's a lot to see and do, so it's great value for money. They also have Chinese guides and some videos with subtitles, so you don't have to worry about not understanding.

  • I learned a lot after visiting! 👍
