This art museum is in an arcade at the heart of Toyama City. It curates 53 pieces in all by Millet, Corot, Daubigny, Dupre and other Barbizon School artists or Courbet, the pioneer of realism. The museum sets a theme and displays different groups of art. This is a popular spot because you can just stop by in your meander and see the true masterpieces of the world.

Of the curation, there is a lot of Jean-François Millet’s work which depicts dignified farmers who live with nature such as “A Woman Shearing A Sheep,” “The Washerwomen Washing Clothes River,” and “The Goosegirl.” They feature his work from early unknown days through his late years, and it is intriguing to see the change in his themes and styles over the years.

From Chuo Dori (Center Street) along the arcade, go through the entrance with the window and the lobby, then you will see the display room. One floor has all the artwork. Just stroll without the care of order of directions and stand before and appreciate your favorite paintings as long or as many times as you want.
