The "terraced rice fields of Hamanoura" spread out in the erosion valley formed by the 2 km-long Hamanoura River, which flows into the Hamanoura Coast. The 283 rice paddies are layered in layers along a natural curve and are also called "Senmaida" or "Dandanbatake" (terraced paddies ).

The terraced rice paddies stretch out like a staircase running up from the sea, showing different expressions depending on the season: rape blossoms in spring, Higanbana in fall, and snowy landscapes in winter. Especially from early April to early May, during the rice planting season, the beauty of the rice paddies and the foot-path between rice fields illuminated by the orange glow of the setting sun is exceptional.

Climb the terraced paddy field observation deck for a panoramic view of the surrounding area and enjoy the spectacular scenery created by nature and human activity. The stone-piled terraced paddy fields, which have been carefully protected since the Warring States and Edo periods, have been recognized as one of the "100 best-terraced rice fields in Japan," a "Saga Heritage" and "Designated Terraced Paddy Fields: Tanada."

It has also been selected as a "Holy place for lovers" certified by the NPO "Earth Activation Support Center" and is known as a romantic date spot with its "Eternal Rock," where two people can ring the bell together.
