Citadines Namba Osaka

This hotel newly opened in 2020 inside Takashimaya Higashi Annex, located near Osaka’s Kitchen, the Kuromon Market and Nipponbashi Denden town. It’s located in the heart of the Minami district, with convenient access to Namba station, just 10 minutes away on foot.

The Takashimaya Higashi Annex was designed by Teiji Suzuki, the architect said to have “made Nagoya”, and was finished in 1928 as an Osaka branch of the Matsuzakaya Department Store. It was then finished as the building you see today during its 3rd redesign. Matsuzakaya eventually left the building in 1966, after which it reopened as Takashimaya Higashi Annex in 1968. In 2021 the building was designated by Japan as an Important Cultural Property, and stands today as a current-day iconic building of Osaka. Inside you’ll also find the Takashimaya Archives, the building that outlines the History of Takashimaya.

Without impeding on the building’s value as an Important Cultural Property, the rooms feature new furnishings and modern, cozy interiors. There are even rooms fit for long, residential stays.
