Ken & Mary Tree

A popular driving route and a photo spot that has become popular through TV commercials.

Last update :

A poplar tree appears in a peaceful grassland in the hills of Biei-no-oka in Biei-cho, Kamikawa-gun, Hokkaido. Nicknamed the "Ken and Mary Tree," it is over 90 years old and became famous in 1972 when it was used in a commercial for Nissan's Skyline.
The tree was named "Ken & Mary Tree" after the couple in a TV commercial.

The long, vertical poplar trees are surrounded by seasonal scenery such as rape blossoms and lupines in summer, autumn leaves in fall, and snow in winter, making it one of the most popular tourist spots in Biei. Access to this place is about 2.5 km from the center of Biei and about 5 minutes by car from JR Biei Station. There is also a parking lot, so you can get out of your car and enjoy the area.

It is a great spot to drive around, enjoy the spectacular view, and take pictures.
