Hokuryu Town Himawari no Sato
It is one of the largest sunflower fields in Japan.
Hokuryu Town Himawari no Sato is located in central Hokkaido, Hokuryu Town, and is popular spot for huge numbers of sunflowers in bloom. In 1979, the Agricultural cooperative staff was so impressed with seeing the sunflower field from which cooking oil is taken in former Yugoslavia, the growing of sunflowers in Hokuryu town started with this episode.
With 2 million sunflowers, it's one of the largest fields in Japan, and it's also a popular spot for cycling.
Hokuryu town is revitalized with sunflowers and many events are also held.
