Gokan, an Osaka-origin brand known for creating Western sweets that resonate with the Japanese heart, such as "Pure Rice Rouleau," has several outlets in prestigious department stores centered around its Kitahama street-front store. While they are renowned for their gifts and fresh sweets, their souvenir items, exclusively sold at shops within Shin-Osaka Station's Shinkansen gates, Osaka International Airport, Kansai International Airport, and other locations, are also very popular.

The black soybean madeleine "Eemonchi" is highly recommended. The dough, a blend of domestic rice flour, wheat flour, and richly flavored fermented butter, is moist in texture, with the sweetness enhanced by rice syrup for a deeper flavor. A signature touch is the topping of honey-pickled black soybeans in the dough. These beans are from the Tamba region, known for high-quality black soybeans, characterized by their jet-black sheen and plump size.
