This iconic church, located in Hirado—historically known as a center for hidden Christians—serves as the centerpiece of the renowned "scenery featuring temples and churches." Originally built in 1913, it was relocated to its current site in 1931.

Constructed from reinforced concrete, the striking church features vivid emerald-green exterior walls and a distinctive pointed triangular roof crowned by a cross. Inside, the three-aisled interior is adorned with intricate plaster sculptures gracing its walls and pillars.

The church’s ceiling, designed with rib-vaulting reminiscent of bat wings, creates a sense of grandeur that is sure to impress visitors. Inside the sanctuary, statues of Jesus and Mary greet worshippers, while a statue of Saint Michael the Archangel presides over the main altar, filling the church with a deeply sacred atmosphere.

Adjacent to the church stands a commemorative statue of Francis Xavier, the missionary who frequently visited Hirado. Today, this church has become one of the area's most significant sightseeing spots. However, given its religious significance, visitors are asked to respect church etiquette and approach the site in a spirit of reverence.
