The Old Public Hall of Hakodate ward, a Western-style building constructed in 1910, underwent extensive conservation and repair work in 2021, restoring it to its original beauty.
The building is characterized by its colonial style, symmetrical from the front view, with kirizuma hafu (gable on the ridge roof) on both sides and supporting columns.
The contrast between the bright yellow and soothing light blue colors gives the building a beautiful and elegant appearance.

As the museum says, "cut out of the Meiji era," the time in the museum is as if one has time-traveled back to the Meiji era.
The furnishings are displayed as they were in those days so as not to destroy the quality of the space. Inside the building, there is a room for ball games, a small and large cafeteria, the office of the chamber, a toilet and bathroom, where visitors can get a real sense of the facilities that were built to welcome His Imperial Highness the Crown Prince in 1911.

The Old Public Hall of Hakodate Ward is a popular facility for its beautiful scenery.
The building sits on top of a small hill with a view of the ocean in front of it.
The balcony inside the building is a particularly good spot to take in the view.
It is also deeply moving to be able to enjoy the spectacular view that His Imperial Highness the Crown Prince would have once seen here, together with the Public Hall.
