Even if you don’t ride a plane, you can have fun at the shops and facilities at the airport. Fresh seafood special to Hokkaido, Mongolian BBQ, Hokkaido’s soul food, Tokachi Region’s specialty, pork rice bowl, miso ramen, and other Hokkaido gourmet food are all here. • Inside the airport, there are various exhibitions and events that showcase Hokkaido's culture, history, and unique features. You can really feel the local charm as soon as you arrive.

  • This is the biggest airport in Hokkaido, so if you love exploring airports, you're in luck! There's a four-story shopping street in the domestic terminal and duty-free shops in the international terminal, so you'll never get bored waiting for your flight. Even if you're not flying, it's worth a visit just to check it out!

  • When you arrive, you'll probably head straight to your hotel, but on your way back, you should definitely take time to enjoy New Chitose Airport.

If your flight is in the early afternoon or at an odd time, I recommend checking out of your hotel early and spending time at the airport.

There are tons of souvenir shops and gourmet spots inside, so just choosing where to eat or shop is a lot of fun.
Plus, there's the New Chitose Airport Theater, so you can even watch a movie before your flight. Only here and Midland Cinema at Nagoya Airport have theaters inside the airport!

There are plenty of seats and spacious waiting areas, and the free Wi-Fi makes it easy to get some work done.

If you wake up early, it's way better to head to the airport than wait around at your hotel. You'll be glad you did—it's a fantastic airport!
