Connected to Asahikawa Station, Asahikawa Kitasaito Garden is placed in a rare location - in the middle of a city. Passing the west concourse of the station and reaching the “Shopping Park” in the city, you can appreciate the grand Chubetsu River and the rich nature in the northern land.
The facility is divided mainly into three areas. “Aune no Hiroba” was inspired by Asahikawa’s craft, Yukara Textile, and has a phlox garden and native species garden such as narcissus and other plants grown by waterfront. “Kamundo no Mori” has a flower garden in the image of an island floating on the plaza as well as herb and vegetable gardens. “Kagamiike Promenade” connects these two areas with a path along Kagami Pond.
Within Kamundo no Mori, there is a shop, “Kitasaito Garden”, providing unique ice cream, herbal teas, etc. They also carry postcards and flower calendars and other goods - a nice stop-over for a break.
