With a history spanning over 160 years, Dai-ichi Takimotokan is a prestigious ryokan nestled in Noboribetsu Onsen, offering an exceptional hot spring experience. Its pride and joy is the sprawling 1,500-tsubo (about 5,000 m²) grand bath, one of the largest in Japan, featuring 35 different baths for men and women combined. Guests can enjoy a luxurious tour of five unique spring qualities, including sulfur and Glauber’s salt springs, across expansive indoor and open-air baths.
A standout offering is the rare option to sip alcohol while relaxing in the open-air bath—making for an unforgettable memory. From the men’s open-air bath, you can even gaze out at the dramatic landscape of Jigokudani (Hell Valley), the source of Noboribetsu’s hot springs.

The inn comprises four accommodation wings, with a range of room styles: suites with private open-air baths boasting spectacular views, tranquil Japanese-style rooms with traditional charm, and sleek, modern Western-style rooms. For dinner, guests can choose between seasonal kaiseki cuisine served in an elegant dining room or a vibrant buffet dining experience where chefs prepare dishes like steak and tempura right before your eyes. Guests staying in the main building can also enjoy kaiseki meals served in-room.
Additional facilities include a pool, a drinking spring, a souvenir shop, and more, allowing guests to fully indulge in a relaxing hot spring resort experience without leaving the premises.
