Kitsune no Ashiato
Travel tips for Yuda Onsen, Yamaguchi cuisine and a soak at the footbath await at this one-stop tourist delight.
Kitsune no Ashiato is a tourism hub located along Yunocho Street in Yuda Onsen, directly opposite the Chuya Nakahara Memorial Museum. Opened in 2016, this go-to spot is where to find all the latest about the hot spring area, Yamaguchi’s sights and local cuisine.
Step inside to find a number of different corners on the 1nd and 2nd floors, including regular panels and videos that carry the latest themes to showcase the best of Yamaguchi. The café offers drinks and unique sweets, including parfaits made with Yamaguchi’s famous uiro (a type of sweet), and fox-themed drinks and desserts inspired by the legend of the white fox of Yuda Onsen. The "tasting set" for sampling local Yamaguchi sake is also very popular.
Get ready for a delight your toes will love, with three different footbaths to dip into (fee applies): "Shiki no Yu," an outdoor foot bath where you can enjoy the seasonal scenery and enchanting night views; "Madobe no Yu," where you can relax with drinks and sweets while overlooking Shiki no Yu; and "Kotone no Yu," which features music inspired by the poems of Chuya Nakahara. There are also rental wear at the foot baths designed to look like traditional kimono, and changing rooms available.
