Art Forest Park (Yamanashi)

A refreshing place where you can experience the beauty of art and nature all at once.

Last update :

In Japan, the phrase “Autumn for the Arts” is widely known—and it feels right at home at Art Forest Park.

Known for its ginkgo-lined avenues, the park shifts into vivid reds and oranges in fall. A 300-meter ginkgo tree-lined path and a Japanese garden make it easy to slow down for a relaxed walk and take in the season’s natural colors.

Across its expansive grounds of Approx. 6 hectares, sculptures by world-renowned artists such as Taro Okamoto and Rodin are scattered throughout. It’s a rare space where you can view works of art up close. The park is also home to the Yamanashi Prefectural Museum of Art, which houses many works by Millet including the signature piece “The Sower,” and the Yamanashi Prefectural Museum of Literature, which exhibits materials related to writers connected to Yamanashi Prefecture such as Ichiyo Higuchi, Osamu Dazai, Ryunosuke Akutagawa, and Sakyu Iida.

You leave feeling a little more enriched—able to take in both art and the fall scenery in one visit.
