Tonami Tulip gallery
A paradise of vibrant tulips that bloom year-round, alongside a variety of seasonal flowers that showcase the beauty of each season.
The Tonami Tulip gallery is a museum located in Tonami City, Toyama Prefecture, which boasts Japan’s largest shipment of tulip bulbs. Established in 1996, it aims to showcase the beauty of tulips, a local specialty that is even exported worldwide.
In the exhibition room known as the Wonder Garden, colorful tulips bloom year-round. Highlights include the Tulip Palace, where cut flowers are displayed on a tower-like structure, and the Palette Garden, inspired by a kaleidoscope with its endless variety of flowers. These unique exhibits are a must-see, offering experiences found nowhere else.
The museum’s Under Farm is also popular, where visitors can learn about the history of tulips, how they were introduced, and the secrets behind growing tulips all year long through easy-to-understand displays.
Each year, from late April to early May, the Tonami Tulip Fair welcomes visitors with 300 varieties and 3 million tulips in bloom. The museum also hosts gardening workshops and is actively involved in greening initiatives throughout the year.
