Prefectural Makiba Park
A park where you can interact with animals amid rich nature and grassy pastures.
Prefectural Yatsugatake Farm spreads across a plateau at 3,609–5,577 ft on the southern foothills of Mt. Yatsugatake. This park opens part of it to the public, where you can enjoy interacting with animals for free amid grand nature and vast, green pastures.
At the Animal Petting Area, you can get up close with sheep and goats, plus enjoy an approx. 1-hour walk on the promenade while taking in a sweeping panorama of Mt. Yatsugatake and the Southern Alps. In the season of fresh greenery, Japanese pear trees bloom with white flowers, adding color to the surrounding area.
The park also offers relaxing spots like a community hall, shop, and cafe. At Makiba Restaurant, you can enjoy a meal with beautiful views as a “sky-high restaurant” at 4,593 ft. The main dishes feature Yamanashi’s local livestock products, with a wide variety of options including a roast beef plate made with Koshu Wine Beef and thick-cut grilled Koshu Fujizakura Pork.
It’s a great spot for enjoying Yamanashi’s nature on a budget.
