Soranone Shokudo
Outstanding kamado-cooked rice, enjoyed in a lush natural setting.
Shiga Prefecture, known for being home to Japan’s largest lake, Lake Biwa, has many spots rich in nature. In that blessed location, the place where you can fully enjoy food is “Soranone Shokudo.”
The restaurant’s signature is rice, slowly cooked by feeding firewood into a kamado stove. Cooking in a kamado makes it fluffy, and the rice’s natural flavor spreads through your mouth. Paired with this kamado rice is a variety of side dishes made generously with seasonal local vegetables. You can take your time savoring the deep, uniquely Japanese flavors.
The menu also includes venison sandwiches and curry topped with plenty of vegetables. The blueberry juice made with berries from their own farm is also recommended.
You can also try cooking rice in a kamado yourself (reservation required). Wash the rice and split the firewood. Being surrounded by the crackle of flames and the aroma of freshly cooked rice will surely become a memorable experience you’ll never forget.
