Town-Run Shima Seiryu-no-Yu
A day-use hot spring facility where you can enjoy the Shima River’s scenery in every season along with a soothing soak.
This town-run day-use hot spring facility sits along the Shima River, which flows from Lake Okushima. The bathing facilities are spotless and well maintained—hard to believe it’s town-run. You get a solid two hours in the hot springs at a reasonable price.
Inside the traditional Japanese-style building, there are separate indoor baths and open-air baths for men and women, plus a waterfall bath and a lying-down bath. From the open-air bath and terrace, you can take in beautiful views of the Shima River—famous for its “Shima Blue”—as well as the Shima Onsen townscape. With the sound of the river, the sense of openness is outstanding.
The facility also has a drinking spring and a lounge, and there’s a riverside open space where you can unwind after your bath. Private rooms are also available for a fee (advance inquiry required), so you can take a break with added privacy.
Open almost every day except the 4th Wednesday and the year-end period, it’s an easy stop when you’re in the area. It’s a hot spring spot where you can enjoy seasonal scenery and Shima’s waters at the same time.
