This museum is the final work of architect Junzo Yoshimura, known for designing the Rockefeller residence in New York, USA, and the new wing of the Nara National Museum. Its scenic setting is also a highlight, standing before the cliffs of Tanigawa, where you can enjoy the changing scenery of the four seasons.

The collection on display is the private collection of Isao Yabuki, founder of Ginza Tenichi, a long-established Edomae tempura restaurant founded in 1930. The museum’s holdings include “Portrait of Reiko” by Ryusei Kishida, one of the leading painters of modern Japanese art, as well as masterpieces by Yuzo Saeki, Sotaro Yasui, and Morikazu Kumagai, celebrated works by Picasso, Renoir, Rodin, and Matisse, and even Goryeo and Joseon ceramics.

In addition to the permanent exhibition, the museum also hosts special exhibitions drawn from its collection, featuring folding screens, hanging scrolls, and more that you can’t see in the permanent galleries.

Take in the view through the large windows and linger in the afterglow of your art experience.
