Ishikawa Aviation Plaza
A wonderland of skies and science where you can get hands-on with real aircraft and learn through experience.
An aviation-focused museum next to Komatsu Airport, Ishikawa’s gateway to the skies.
The grounds feature 17 real aircraft on display, including jets and helicopters, and it’s a rare chance to see the F-104 fighter and T-2 advanced trainer up close. You can also enjoy commemorative photos with the second-generation T-2 Blue Impulse, famous for aerobatic flights, and a Swiss-made Pilatus that was actually used for Antarctic research.
In addition, along with a real YS-11 simulator once used by ANA, the hands-on area lined with a total of six simple simulators is also a popular attraction. Sit in the cockpit and grab the control stick, and anyone is sure to feel like a pilot soaring through the sky.
There are also displays of a wide variety of models, including the world’s first airplanes and high-tech aircraft, plus aviation movie screenings and illustrated panels. Check out the many materials, learn by experiencing them, and discover the history from the birth of aircraft to the present, along with how aircraft have developed over time.
Also, on the first-floor main exhibition hall, there’s the kids’ area “Buunbun World,” featuring one of Japan’s largest airplane-shaped playground structures that can be enjoyed regardless of the weather, making it a huge hit with kids.
