Kazahaya no Sato: Kappa Hometown

A photogenic garden filled with seasonal blooms and fragrance.

Last update :

A beautiful garden in Tsu, Mie Prefecture, where flowers grown by people with disabilities bloom, blending social welfare and the environment. It’s located inside Ise Onsen Golf Club near Kazahaya Pond, said to have been home to the yōkai “kappa” from Japanese folklore.

It’s especially known as a hydrangea hotspot. Around 77,700 hydrangea plants across 45 varieties—including rare types you won’t see elsewhere, such as Selma and Sharona—burst into bloom, creating a breathtaking, otherworldly view.

In spring, red and white plum blossoms bloom beautifully, creating a striking contrast against the blue sky. In early summer, wisteria fills the air with a sweet fragrance, drawing everyone in. In autumn, cosmos flowers bloom across the grounds, painting the expansive garden in vivid color.

There’s also a free footbath to soothe your tired feet after a stroll. A dog run is available too (paid), so you can enjoy the visit with your pup. On top of that, you’ll find a stamp rally, quizzes, cosplay experiences for kids, bouldering, and more—so there are plenty of ways to have fun.

It’s a place where you can enjoy yourself all day, surrounded by beautiful nature.
