Restaurant Sendouan

A Japanese restaurant by Lake Toya, Sendouan offers breathtaking panoramic views through its large windows. Guests seated on the lakeside can enjoy a stunning view of Lake Toya and Nakajima Island, while those on the opposite side can gaze directly at the crater of Mount Usu. The restaurant provides a relaxing dining experience surrounded by Hokkaido’s grand natural scenery.

The menu features a wide variety of dishes made with locally sourced Hokkaido ingredients, including smooth and flavorful soba, hearty set meals, and rice bowls. One of the most popular dishes is a special set featuring glutinous rice steamed in a wooden steamer (seiro), generously topped with scallops freshly caught from Funka Bay. Seasonal limited-edition menus using the freshest ingredients are also available.

Sendouan is operated by Wakasaimo Honpo, a well-known local confectionery company famous for "Wakasaimo", a sweet treat made from Daifuku beans and shredded kombu, designed to resemble roasted sweet potatoes. The restaurant is located on the second floor of Wakasaimo’s Lake Toya flagship store, making it a convenient spot for both dining and souvenir shopping. A special demonstration corner where visitors can try freshly fried Wakasaimo tempura is also a popular attraction.
