Sakuya Konohana Kan, located in Tsurumi Ryokuchi Park, which was developed on the former site of the International Garden and Greenery Exposition held in 1990, is one of Japan’s leading indoor botanical gardens.

Its greenhouse, one of the largest in Japan, was originally built as the City of Osaka pavilion for the exposition. The exterior, inspired by water lilies floating on the water, uses Approx. 5,000 glass panels. Approx. 5,500 species and 15,000 plants are cultivated and displayed here, representing the many climate zones of the world, from tropical rainforests and tropical regions like Hawaii and Tahiti to arid areas where cacti and baobabs grow, and even mountain regions at elevations of 5,000 meters. Each exhibition room is designed to match the temperature, humidity, and other conditions of its environment, and many feature rare varieties, making a visit feel a bit like traveling around the world.

The Flower Tour, which takes visitors around the facility with a flower attendant while sharing stories about plants and flowers, is a popular way to enjoy Sakuya Konohana Kan more deeply. The regular tour is free, while special tours require a fee.
