Bring some snacks, sit and watch the water, then take a slow loop around. Super soothing, and it’s an easy place to enjoy without having to plan a whole itinerary.

The dead trees against the blue water make for a really distinctive scene. The color changes depending on the weather—on a cloudy day, the blue isn’t as intense.

I visited the Marukin Soy Sauce Factory on Shodoshima and saw they were selling soy sauce flavored soft serve at the entrance. It looked so unique, I had to try it! The ice cream had a nice milky aroma mixed with the taste of soy sauce. It was a really interesting combo and actually pretty tasty! 😋

There's a metal walkway that takes you up to the highest point on Kume Island. The castle ruins themselves are just some broken walls, but honestly, the views of the ocean and the whole island are way more impressive...
