Coming here early in the morning feels really local—you kind of feel like a resident. It’s perfect at breakfast time, and you can easily just grab a full meal here.

The souvenirs are insanely cute. The second you walk in, all logic goes out the window.
They’ve got merch for every character—Hello Kitty, Pompompurin, My Melody, you name it.
So many options, from tiny keychains to big plushies. It’s way too easy to go overboard.

Driving right on the beach is seriously cool. It’s a pretty rare experience in Japan.
Cruising along with the ocean right next to you just puts you in a great mood.
    Super relaxing.

One of the main attractions on the island is the Inujima Seirensho Art Museum. It's a fantastic example of turning an old industrial site into a modern art space. Walking along the paths of Inujima, you really get a sense of being transported to another time.

The whole moss phlox garden feels like it's surrounded by a pink sea—so relaxing and refreshing.

  • You can really get a feel for local life from the ingredients and foods sold at the shops. No matter what country I visit, I always love checking out the markets.

This is a movie-themed park where you can dress up in Edo period costumes and transform yourself. It's a great place to take unique photos with the sets.

  • A well-known spot for autumn leaves. The wooden thirteen-story pagoda here is the only one of its kind in the world and is the signature structure of Tanzan Jinja Shrine.

  • There are lots of local specialty shops near Yubatake, and even the convenience stores have unique exteriors. When the lights come on at night, the atmosphere feels totally different.
