PROFILE

She is the only hot spring beauty researcher in Japan studying the beauty benefits of hot springs. She travels to hot springs in Japan and abroad for about 200 days a year, writing travel columns for magazines and newspapers, and also appearing on television and radio.

She focused on the natural environment of hot spring areas and completed training as a “climate therapist” in Germany. She obtained certification as an international Chinese medicine practitioner and introduced “New Hot Spring Beauty” to address mental, physical and skin-related concerns through hot springs. She researches beauty tourism that enhances beauty through hot springs, food and nature. With experience in marketing and public relations for overseas cosmetic brands, she is responsible for branding and training for hot spring areas and inns. She serves as a part-time lecturer in hot spring therapy at Kyorin University in the Department of Tourism and Cultural Exchange, as well as giving lectures on hot springs at universities in Japan and abroad. She is a member of the Japanese Society of Hot Spring Sciences, the Japanese Society of Balneology, Climatology and Physical Medicine, an editorial committee member of the Japan Onsen Association, an instructor for hot spring bathing in Japan and a charismatic hot spring sommelier.

Her publications include 100 Inspiring Hot Spring Inns (Bungeishunju) and New Hot Spring Beauty (Greencat), among many others.
