This is pretty much a classic Hakone itinerary, and it’s hard to go wrong with it. It does feel a bit touristy overall, but the scenery is genuinely worth seeing.

If you have the energy, I definitely recommend staying until the evening. Otherwise, it feels a bit like you're missing out.
Overall, nighttime is the best part. The atmosphere, lighting, and overall experience all feel more complete. -

The show was seriously adorable. It was packed with Sanrio characters the whole time, so fans will have a great time.
The stage production was thoughtfully done too. The lighting and music were both on point, and it didn’t feel thrown together at all. -

The mall downstairs is great for browsing, and there are lots of restaurant and souvenir options.
If it’s your first time in Tokyo, it’s definitely worth going up for the view. -

The ice cream here has such a rich milky flavor. It really gives that Hokkaido feel.
The texture is super smooth, not too sweet, and overall really easy to keep eating. -

The Yanagawa river boat ride was really relaxing. You just drift along slowly the whole way, and it’s the perfect kind of do-nothing itinerary.
Sometimes the boatman even sings, which adds so much to the atmosphere. -

Magome-juku has so much character. The whole stone-paved street lined with wooden buildings really makes it feel like you’ve stepped back in time.
