HUIS TEN BOSCH; Flowers & Light Kingdom in Kyusyu
The destination for this trip was “HAUS TEN BOSCH” in Sasebo City, Nagasaki in Kyusyu area. The reason we picked this theme park was to visit the “must-see” event, “Flower & Light Kingdom”. The park resembles town views in Holland making the whole park look like “Europe”. The park appears in various TV show, movies and commercials and the name “HAUS TEN BOSCH” is actually used for the name of the town where it is located too.
Features of HAUS TEN BOSCH
Different from Universal Studios in Osaka or Tokyo Disneyland, there are only quite a few attractions in the park. However, the park is the biggest in size in all over Japan for a single theme park. The park is dedicated to make it look like and feel like “Europe” to details, and once you are in the park, you would absolutely feel confused about where you are. This is also a great place to walk around, so it is recommended that you go visit in comfortable clothes and shoes.
Must-Visit Annual Events at HAUS TEN BOSCH
There are varieties of events held in the park throughout a year. Among them, we listed the top-recommended 3:
- Masquerade Carnival (January 14th, 2017 – March 31st, 2017)
- Flowers and Lights Kingdom (October 29th, 2016 – May 7th, 2017)
- Tulip Festival (February 9th, 2017 – April 17th, 2017)
HAUS TEN BOSCH Flores & Lights Kingdom Highly Recommended Spots
The purpose of our trip was to go visit the “Flores & Lights Kingdom”, so we purchased tickets for night admission called “Light Touring Ticket at Night”. It is 3,800 JPY for an adult, and it is good for an admission after 5pm.
#1 Light Waterfall
Dynamic light waterfall. Japan’s #1 stunning view of lights falling off from 66m height.
#2 Light and Fountain Canal
Very impressive and moving sight with varying colors of the lights and varying views of the canal accordingly.
With additional 400 JPY, you can ride on a boat. When a boat passes through, the Light and the Fountain show begins.
#3 Rainbow Flower Garden
Tulips on the organic EL panel and flower garden that are lighted. If you see them from distance, they look as if they were luminous tulips! The very first innovative idea in the world.
Other than these listed above, there are many other spots that are fun to visit. Two examples are “Luminous Zoo”, which is a great attraction for kids and “Maze of Light and Sound”, which actually just opened this year. The event is offered until May, so hope you will have a chance to see them yourself!
