An Osaka Ramen Shop You Should Prepare to Wait in Line For! Ramen Hayato
Ramen Hayato is a tremendously popular ramen shop in Osaka. It was also featured in the 2016 Michelin Guide Osaka’s “Bib Gourmand” section. Bib Gourmand is the name of a section of the guide that recommends high-quality foods at reasonable prices, for people who want to get more bang for their buck.
This time, I arrived at the restaurant 20 minutes before opening, but there were already 5 other people waiting in line. There are only 7 seats at the counter here.
The Menu of “Hayato”
The menu offers three types of ramen: miso, shoyu, and shio.
Many people say that Hayato has the best miso ramen in Osaka.
- shoyu:しょうゆらーめん
- shio:しおらーめん
- miso:みそらーめん
Miso ramen is especially delicious in the winter. I was actually waiting for the winter season to try it here!
The Popular Miso Ramen Makes Its Appearance!
Made with specially made soup base and stir-fried bean sprouts cooked in a wok, this ramen is made by going the extra mile.
The toppings are rolled char siu, block char siu, menma, white scallion, bean sprouts, and yuzu peel.
The soup was fragrant, with a broth base made with varying types of miso, as well as chicken, pork, and vegetables. It was topped with scallion and some oil. It was rich, but not greasy, and it had the fragrance of the stir-fried vegetables too. Its flavor really drove home the passion of the restaurant owner!
The noodles are house-made. They are flat medium-thick straight noodles.
The soup clings well to the noodles as you pull them up out of the bowl. The noodles have a chewy texture and great body, delicious!
There are two types of char siu, with differing textures to them.
The block pieces are so tender they fall apart in your mouth, with a deep flavor.
The rib cuts are so soft they seem like they could melt away. You can really taste the rich umami of the meat.
Beneath the rib cut char siu hid the bean sprouts. Vegetables pair so well with miso ramen!
The thick menma had a very firm texture.
Rich miso ramen also goes perfectly with rice!
If you visit Osaka, you should definitely give this ramen a try, even if you have to wait in line!
