Hyogo's Well-loved Ramen Horenso Serves Ramen with a Rich Soup
Ramen Horenso is such a popular place that its ramen has been used in dried "cup noodles"! Its rich, thick soup has earned this shop a lot of fans, many of whom come from far away to eat it!
The Location
It's located in Nishinomiya City, one of three highly competitive ramen shops lined up along National Highway 176. It's about 15 minutes by car from Kobe Sanda Premium Outlets.
The Simple Menu
A regular bowl of ramen is ¥750, and there is only one flavor on the menu. You can order a bigger bowl or add more toppings, such as Char Sui (roasted pork filets).
Besides ramen, they have rice dishes and gyoza (pot stickers).
First, buy a meal ticket from the machine.
Families and truck drivers arrive, one after another.
This Ramen Features a Rich, Thick Soup
Ramen ¥750
The toppings are: two large slices of Char Sui, sliced green onion, and Menma (a condiment made of fermented bamboo shoots).
By the way, it doesn't contain any spinach. (The name of the restaurant, Horenso, means "spinach" in Japanese.)
With a chicken carcass base, this soup is rather thick and heavy.
Despite its richness, once you take a bite, you'll want to eat more and more of it!
The medium-thick straight noodles have elasticity. That's why they really get entwined in the soup!
The Chashyu is so soft, it melts in your mouth. Delicious!
Gyoza ¥380
The gyoza (potstickers) here are famous, so be sure and try some! Seven homemade gyoza come on the plate.
Its crispy fried skin is the perfect match for the filling full of vegetables.
With just the right amount of garlic, this gyoza sure is tasty!
After eating my fill, I wasn't hungry for quite a while.
For those who like a rich and heavy bowl of ramen, this is a place I can recommend!
