Introducing Men Monogatari Tsunagu, a Prize-Winning Ultimate Ramen Shop
Men Monogatari Tsunagu is a ramen shop that opened in 2017 in Osaka. It has attracted attention by winning the "Semi-Grand Prix" prize in 2018 New Restaurant Division of the Ultimate Ramen Contest held by the "Pia MOOK Kansai" magazine.
It's located by the entrance to the Kagaya shopping district arcade. As soon as they open, the shop is full. That shows how popular this place is!
First, buy a meal ticket from the vending machine.
With photos, the menu is easy to understand.
Four types of ramen are offered, including Shoyu (soy-sauce base), Shio (salt base) and Tsukemen (dipping noodles) in both flavors.
The Shio Tsukemen noodles are prepared with a foamy espuma broth.
They offer a variety of small rice dishes. One of them is Nama Shirasu, a rice bowl made with fresh baby sardines from Shizuoka Prefecture, a rarity in Osaka.
A sign on the wall says, "The soup is carefully heated, so it may take time to serve you".
There are 9 counter seats in this clean and tidy shop.
In this Shio (salty) ramen dish, the noodles and toppings are served separately. The presentation is beautiful, too!
First, taste the soup.
The stock, made of chicken and niboshi (dried baby sardines) is effective. It's quite good!
The noodles, made with whole wheat flour, are thin and straight.
Tasting faintly of wheat, with their supple body, these noodles go down smoothly!
Two types of char sui are served: Italian pork and chicken breast.
A decorative slice of kamaboko fish cake is added to menma (a Japanese condiment made from fermented, boiled bamboo shoots) and mizuna (Japanese mustard greens).
I am told to quickly dip the char sui in the soup, then eat it.
Spread out the char sui meat and see how big it is!
The pork char sui melts in your mouth. The chicken char sui is quite spicy and tender.
Both are excellent!
The Mizuna (Japanese mustard greens) are refreshing and delicious.
This ramen is prepared very carefully. From the soup to the noodles and toppings, everything is superb! Their hospitality has also attracted many fans.
Next time, I want to try the Shio Tsukemen noodles and Nama-Shirasu rice bowl!
