Authentic Japanese Lunch at “Magokoro Ryori Houchou Ippon” in Osaka
“Houchou Ippon” is a tucked-away Japanese restaurant in Kitahama, a business district of Osaka.
They offer authentic Japanese foods made with seasonal ingredients, so it’s often used for business meals and the like.
I heard that you can get a great lunch for a reasonable price here, so I went in for a visit.
The exterior has a posh feel to it.
They offer four types of lunch choices.
Two-Tier Bento – 1,080 yen
The bento is filled with a variety of “obanzai.”
“Obanzai” are typical dishes that have been long-time staples in Kyoto households.
The first tier of the bento included things like tuna with deep umami flavors, fried shrimp with tartar sauce, unagi yawata-maki, and gently simmered Saga beef.
The second tier continued with more delights, like lotus root and carrot simmered in sugar and soy sauce, and melon for dessert!
I was so excited to dig in!
You can even get seconds of the delicious red miso soup and the freshly-cooked plump rice for free.
I was absolutely stuffed from the variety of “obanzai” served, so I couldn’t take advantage of the free rice.
I was able to get authentic Japanese cooking at a very reasonable price here; I highly recommend it!
