A Delicious and Cheap Old Ramen Restaurant in Osaka, “Ramen Asahiya”
“Ramen Asahiya” was first founded in 1988. When lunchtime hits, you can be sure that there will almost always be a long line of salarymen waiting for their meals. I’d heard that they offer great service and delicious ramen, so I decided to drop by.
Ramen Asahiya is right by Tamagawa Station. It’s also close to JR Noda Station.
I visited around noon, and as expected, there were several people outside waiting in line.
I’m not a fan of waiting in lines, but they seemed to have a pretty good turnover rate going, so I decided to stay the course.
They had a display of sample menu items outside the restaurant, so I took a look at them… and soon, after 15 minutes of waiting, I got to go in!
It looks like a lot of customers come in, eat quickly, and leave, so the turnover rate is pretty quick.
They offer two flavors of ramen: shoyu (680 yen) and miso (700 yen).
A 1.5x portion of noodles costs 70 yen and a double portion 150 yen, so the value you get for the bigger portion is pretty good!
You can also request other modifications to your ramen, like firmer noodles, extra green onion, and extra bean sprouts.
I ordered my ramen with extra green onion, but I was blown away by how much they actually gave me! I can’t believe that this was a free addition!
Below the mountain of green onion were bean sprouts, chashu, and menma.
The broth is a tonkotsu-based shoyu soup.
It has a rich flavor, but it’s sippable and goes down easy with a nostalgic taste to it.
The noodles here are thin and straight.
They have just the right amount of chew to them, and they pair beautifully with the soup!
There were also 5 thin slices of chashu in the ramen.
The texture was amazing, and it was quite delicious!
The combination of the refreshing green onion and the umami-packed chashu was great!
There is also “yanninjan,” a seasoning paste made with ingredients like miso, togarashi pepper, and garlic, available on the counter.
The yanninjan added spiciness, depth of flavor, and aroma to the ramen!
I definitely recommend adding it when you’re about halfway through your soup!
When you take a bite of the gyoza, you’ll find it’s bursting with juiciness!
The exterior of the gyoza is crisped up beautifully, and it’s packed with plenty of tasty vegetables.
Behind the restaurant is a private parking lot with free parking for an hour.
It’s convenient even for the customers who drive!
