GAUFRES AU GOUTER” from Kobe Fugetsudo
Have you heard of the sweet from Kobe Fugetsudo “gaufre”?
They’re a sweet made by sandwiching cream between two thin wafers made of western ingredients flour, sugar, milk, and butter that are then prepared like Japanese senbei wafers.
They are available in classic flavors like vanilla, strawberry, and chocolate, but the new line “GAUFRES AU GOUTER” come in the 3 flavors of black tea, matcha, and coffee.
“GAUFRES AU GOUTER” means “gaufres to enjoy at snacktime.”
The packaging is designed to look like a can of black tea.
When you bite into it, there’s a lovely Earl Grey-like aroma!
I love black tea, so I was really impressed with this!
The gaufres are fairly large, but they’re thin and light, so you can finish one surprisingly easily.
When I opened the coffee one, I could smell the fragrant aroma of coffee!
When you look at the cream, you can see coffee grains in it!
Even my kids, who aren’t fans of coffee, enjoyed it!
The cream is a beautiful matcha-tinted green.
I was surprised at how authentic the matcha flavor was; among the cream’s sweetness there was the aroma and bitterness characteristic to matcha.
My children didn’t like it as it was bitter, but I’m sure fans of matcha would enjoy it!
Kobe Fugetsudo has locations in many department stores across Japan, and they even have an online store!
Be sure to give these a try!
