From Kansai International Airport, board the Kansai-Airport Express HARUKA to Osaka Station, then transfer to the Super HAKUTO for a smooth connection to Tottori. From Okayama Station, you can also take the Limited Express YAKUMO to reach Yonago Station.

From there, take the JR Limited Express Super HAKUTO to Tottori Station, a scenic ride of about 2 hours and 35 minutes. Enjoy the tranquil countryside views from your window as you settle into the relaxed pace of train travel.
Once you arrive at Tottori Station, it’s time to head to your first destination.

Your first stop is the Tottori Karo Crab Aquarium, about 30 minutes from Tottori Station by bus. On weekends and holidays, the Loop Kirinjishi Bus is a convenient option—get off at the “Kanikko-kan-mae” stop, which is right in front of the facility.
On weekdays or when the loop bus isn’t running, take the Hinomaru Bus (Karo Line) and walk about 3 minutes from the “Kanikko-kan Iriguchi” stop.
This small aquarium features creatures from the Sea of Japan, with a special focus on crabs. It’s fun for both kids and adults. Inside, you’ll be greeted by a large circular tank filled with various crab species swimming gracefully. There are also interactive exhibits, such as feeding experiences and a “touching pool” where you can feel sea creatures like starfish and sea cucumbers—bringing the ocean world up close in a playful way.

After lunch, take a taxi for about 15 minutes to the Tottori Sand Dunes The Sand Museum.
The museum is an indoor facility that exhibits sand sculptures created by artists from around the world. Each year, new works are presented under the theme “Travel the World with Sand.” One of the main attractions is that each sculpture is displayed only once. Every piece is so detailed and beautifully crafted that you’ll want to capture it on camera. In the museum’s calm and quiet space, you can fully appreciate the delicate artistry of sand sculpture. The theme for 2025 is “Travel Around Japan with Sand.”

Stroll Through the Majestic Tottori Sand Dunes

From the Sand Museum, it's just a 5-minute walk to the entrance of the Tottori Sand Dunes.
Stretching 16 km east to west and 2.4 km north to south, the dunes are among the largest in Japan and are designated a national natural monument. They’re open 24 hours a day and free to enter.
Climb to the top of the ridges and you’ll be rewarded with sweeping 360-degree views. The windswept patterns in the sand and the vast scale of the dunes offer a breathtaking sense of nature’s power. As you walk barefoot across the soft sand, take time to appreciate the immense beauty of this unique landscape.

Stay Overnight at the Lakeside Hawai Hot Spring

After enjoying the majestic scenery of the sand dunes, take the Tottori Sand Dune Line bus operated by Hinomaru Bus or Nihon Kotsu to return to Tottori Station. On weekends and holidays, you can also use the convenient Loop Kirinjishi Bus.
From Tottori Station, take the Limited Express Super HAKUTO, SUPER OKI, or SUPER MATSUKAZE to Kurayoshi Station (about 35 minutes). Then, transfer to a Nihon Kotsu local bus to reach this day’s destination—Hawai Hot Spring. At Hawai Hot Spring, you’ll find Bokoro, a ryokan said to have inspired settings in the Detective Conan series. If you want to immerse yourself in the world of the manga, this is the place to stay.
To fully enjoy the hot spring town, don’t forget to stop by the Hawai & Togo Hot Spring Tourist Information Center. In addition to travel information, they also offer bicycle rentals.

After viewing the art, take a 5-minute walk from the museum to the acepack Nashikkokan. It is the only pear-themed museum in Japan, dedicated to Tottori’s specialty fruit, the pear.
Inside, you'll find exhibits including a massive 20-meter replica of a Nijisseiki (20th Century) pear tree, along with fun displays about the history, varieties, and cultivation of pears. There’s also a fruit parlor and a shop, allowing you to enjoy the appeal of pears with all five senses.

Stroll Through the Picturesque Kurayoshi Shirakabe Dozo Gun with White Walls and Red Roof Tiles

Arrive at Yura Station, Fondly Known as “Conan Station” – Step into the World of Detective Conan

After leaving the Kurayoshi Shirakabe Dozo Gun, take the Nihon Kotsu Bus from the “Akagawara/Shirakabe Dozo” bus stop to Kurayoshi Station (about 20 min). From there, ride the JR San’in Main Line for about 10 minutes to reach Yura Station, affectionately nicknamed “Conan Station.”
Located in Hokuei Town, the hometown of Detective Conan creator Gosho Aoyama, this station is filled with Conan-themed touches—from the station sign and platform clock to the mailbox outside. Colorful statues of Conan and other characters greet visitors, making it a delight even for casual fans.
This station marks the beginning of your full-fledged “Conan pilgrimage.”

Enjoy the monument in front of the station, then take a leisurely 20-minute walk along Conan Street. Along the way, you’ll find various Conan-themed features such as stone monuments modeled after comic book covers and even decorated manhole covers. Simply walking the path lets you experience the world of Detective Conan, and enjoying this “pilgrimage route” at a relaxed pace is one of the highlights of the journey.
At the Gosho Aoyama Manga Factory, you can explore original drawings and rare materials from Detective Conan, as well as learn about creator Gosho Aoyama’s life and creative process. Don’t miss the museum shop, which features exclusive merchandise you can only find here.

After fully enjoying Conan’s hometown, take the JR San’in Main Line from Yura Station to Yonago Station (about 1 hr 10 min), then transfer to the Hinomaru Bus Kaike Line for about 20 minutes to reach Kaike Onsen.
Discovered by fishermen in 1900, Kaike Onsen is now one of the San’in region’s premier hot springs, famous for its beautifying waters. Its sodium-calcium chloride spring keeps your body warm to the core and retains warmth well, helping prevent chills after bathing.

Lunchtime Around the Station in Yonago, Tottori’s Leading Commercial City

From the museum, walk about 15 minutes to Yonago Station.
Along the way, you’ll pass Ekimae-dori, a lively street lined with cafés, eateries, and shops. After lunch, hop on the shuttle bus from Yonago Station to the Tottori Prefectural Flower Park (about 25 minutes). Weekday service may vary depending on the season, so it's best to check the latest schedule in advance.
Tottori Prefectural Flower Park is the largest flower park in western Japan. The grounds feature a 1-km-long covered viewing promenade, colorful flowerbeds, and a massive glass conservatory known as the Flower Dome. No matter where you walk, the park is filled with photo-worthy scenes and ever-changing landscapes.
Take your time to relax and appreciate the healing beauty of nature.
