Bakery Café Renga

Enjoy a cozy moment in a historical red brick café

Last update :

This British-style brick building was originally constructed in the period between 1912 and 1926 as a factory with a saw-tooth roof. It has since been reborn as Bakery Café Renga and is now a registered tangible cultural property of Japan. The elegant, tasteful interior of this approximately 100-year-old building is recommended as a spot where you can take a moment and relax.

Upon stepping inside, you are greeted by the aroma of freshly baked bread, and you might find yourself having a hard time choosing from all the different kinds of bread available. This place is also treasured as a local bakery and many locals come here to pick up some bread to take home. It also makes a wonderfully cozy café, with a high ceiling and sun coming in through the skylight, helping make the interior seem more spacious and open.

A wide variety of seating options are available. You can sit on the terrace and enjoy a pleasant breeze, or you can sit indoors at a table or on a sofa and soak in the atmosphere. Another one of the café's strong points is its usability regardless of the situation or the number of visitors.

Aside from bread, you can also buy baked goods here. They're perfect for a tea break and they can even be packed in a box for you, so they would also make nice souvenirs to bring back from Kiryu. Various events are held here at the weekend, including live piano music and chanson performances. Why not attend one if you have the chance?

The café is also located near the Kiryu Shinmachi Important Traditional Buildings Preservation District, which is a popular sightseeing spot in Kiryu. Since the café is open from early in the morning until the evening, you might want to drop by in between strolling around Kiryu City's sightseeing spots, or before or after touring the temples of the Seven Gods of Fortune. This café offers an experience that is hard to find anywhere else.
