The Arakawa River flows through Saitama and Tokyo before spilling out into the Tokyo Bay. Saitama Aquarium has exhibits for the creatures that live in the Arakawa River!
Here you can see around 70 of the 86 species of fish that have been found in Saitama.
There are even protected species of fish in the exhibits! It’s very interesting seeing the exhibit’s demonstration of how the Arakawa River flows from upstream down to the estuary.
The goldfish dome, which you can look into from the bottom of the aquarium, is another popular exhibit, and you can almost feel as if you’ve become a goldfish yourself!
Furthermore, there are tropical fish from around the world on display, and in the garden pond area you can even feed over 1-meter-long grass carp, black carp, and koi fish.
