A path goes along Kurome River through Asaka City. On ordinary days, neighbors take a walk or jog here, except for late March through early April, when many visitors from outside the city come to see the 232 Someiyoshino cherry trees blooming along both banks for 700m (half a mile).

During the Kurome River Flower Festival, the area is alive with crowds every year. Besides the familiar booths of Takoyaki, stir-fried noodles, hot dogs, and ice cream cones, Asaka City’s famous gourmet and local products are sold, and rental canoes, music and dance performances will entertain all generations.

If you prefer enjoying the cherry blossoms quietly, they are lit up from dusk into the night. Nearly 200 Japanese lanterns gently light the blossoms to create a dreamy landscape. Even in spring, it can be chilly in the evening. Dress warmly and bring hot drinks to be comfortable.

  • It's just about a 5-minute walk from JR Kita-Asaka Station, so it's super convenient. Even though the cherry blossom areas are a bit scattered, the whole place feels really beautiful and awesome!

  • I love coming here during cherry blossom season. The locals make it feel like a big party—it's super lively!
