The Nara Hotel was opened in 1909 in Nara Park as the "Guest House of Kansai." Since its establishment, the hotel has welcomed celebrities and guests from Japan and abroad for over 100 years. The hotel currently consists of the main and new buildings, each offering a different space for guests.
The main building retains many of the original features from when architect Kingo Tatsuno first designed it. Inside the Momoyama palace-style building made of Japanese cypress, the carpets and fireplaces with hosho flowers reflect the style of the Meiji era.
What is unique about the new building built in 1984 is that all guests can enjoy a beautiful view of the lush Japanese garden from their rooms.
Both the main building and the new building have an extensive selection of rooms. The main building has 62 Western-style rooms, including suites and deluxe rooms. The new building, which also offers Japanese-style rooms, has 66 rooms, each of which provides a relaxing stay.
The main dining room, “Mikasa,” open since the hotel's establishment, and the Japanese restaurant, “Hanagiku,” located in the new building, provide the traditional taste of Nara Hotel musing seasonal ingredients. In addition, the tea lounge with a beautiful garden of different flowers every season is a perfect place to stop by for a break from strolling.
