"Venus Line" is a plateau driving course in Nagano Prefecture with a total length of about 76km and an average altitude of 1400m. It is a mountain road that runs through the plateau of Yatsugatake-Chūshin Kōgen Quasi-National Park. It starts from the Akebono Tunnel in Chino city, goes through Tateshina Plateau and Lake Shirakaba, and connects to Utsukushi-ga-hara Plateau via Kirigamine. In 2002, all lines were opened for free, making it easier to enjoy a drive.
Scenic spots such as Lake Shirakaba and Kurumayama Plateau are scattered along the line. Amusement parks, hot springs, leisure facilities are lined up on the shores of Lake Shirakaba, as well as a lot of lodging facilities. The Kurumayama Plateau can be reached by the lift to the main peak. Go out to look at the spectacular view. Also, the view from Fujimidai, located between Kurumayama and Kirigamine, is the best part. On a clear day, you can see the Yatsugatake Mountains, Mt. Ontake in the Southern and Central Alps, and Mt. Fuji in the distance.
The high season comes from early July to early August, and alpine plants such as Nikko daylilies decorate the Kurumayama Plateau and Kirigamine Plateau. Let's imprint in one's memory the magnificent panorama while admiring the magnificent mountains and beautiful flowers of the Alps. There are plenty of hot spring facilities, local gourmet food and activities along the line. Check these out and enjoy the drive.
