Lalique Museum Hakone
This is a museum showcasing the beautiful works of Rene Lalique, a French jewelry and glass artist.
This is a museum dedicated to the work of Rene Lalique, a French decorative artist. During the Art Nouveau and Art Deco eras, Lalique created beautiful jewelry and decorative arts in his 20s through 40s, and glassworks in his 50s and later. His delicate jewelry and glass art, with motifs such as birds, flowers, and women, demonstrate his outstanding technical skills and rich sensitivity.
There is a cafe, a store and a garden on the premises. At the spacious “CAFE RESTAURANT LYS” by the lawn, you can enjoy casual French cuisine while feeling the nature of each season. The lunch plate is especially recommended as it comes with both fish and meat.
The museum store sells original goods that can only be found here, ranging from about 100 different types of postcards to picture books and special exhibition goods.
There is also a display of a train on which Lalique designed the interior decor. Inside this Orient Express’ salon car that actually used to run in Europe, you can enjoy a luxurious teatime while admiring Lalique’s beautiful decorations up close. (Limited capacity; Same-day reservation required; 2,200 yen per person) Enjoy a luxurious time in the atmosphere reminiscent of a first-class hotel lounge.
