Tenkaiho
This observatory offers a magnificent view woven by the grand ocean and beautiful flowers.
Tenkaiho is an observatory located in the central part of the Tawaragaura Peninsula, which faces two seas - Sasebo Bay and the Goto-Nada Sea. It offers a spectacular panoramic view of the Kujukushima Islands. Renowned for its majestic seascape, it's hailed as one of Sasebo's finest views. Not only is it stunning during the day, but the ethereal scenes at sunset are also a must-see.
During late March to early April, the spacious circular flower beds bloom with over 150,000 rape blossoms, creating an even more vibrant and colorful atmosphere. The contrast of the bright yellow flowers against the deep blue sea is a sight that captivates all who see it. Additionally, around early to mid-October, the same number of cosmos flowers bloom, offering another splendid floral display.
In recent years, Tenkaiho has become a popular spot for Instagram-worthy photos, attracting numerous tourists from both within Japan and abroad. After enjoying the magnificent views, visitors can also stop by the nearby Hananomori Park, which greets them with a variety of flowers through the seasons.
